I want to thank dwanthny and Manichean for your help. Changing the file from a cbr to cbz fixed my problem. This forum has been a big help to me.

Picture Size for PRS 650
Hi,
I try to convert a cbr to epub for my Sony 650 to read it in landscape mode. When I use the Comic input setting for "keep the aspect, but use the y for the x resolution" (sorry, I have a german version and dunno the english name of that button) the max Resolution on the resulting pictures in the file is never higher than 754. What do I wrong? I tried every option, also "overwrite image size". The resulting is never bigger than 754 greetings S. |

Disable rotation of images?
Hi all, and thanks for such an informative thread! It has got me over many problems however I've one remaining.
I'm having no problems creating a cbz file and converting, but I'd like to disable the rotation of my (landscape) images without disabling the processing altogether. The reason is they are photos of a book and the PRS350 has a 'view mode' which allows you to flick through the four quadrants of each page in turn. This is perfect for me as it makes the text big enough. However Calibre insists on rotating the images to portrait, which means the book appears upside-down on the device and the pages appear out of order. I've tried fixing the resolution but Calibre still rotates the image. I'm keeping Landscape ticked as portrait images are fiddly to zoom (5 'clicks' per quarter of a page switching in and out of zoom mode). Wide is not ticked as that seems to imply rotation. I've tried ticking and clearing 'keep aspect ratio' but the image is always rotated - if ticked the rotated image is surrounded with white. Is there any way to disable the rotation without disabling the processing altogether please? Still coming to terms with how much Calibre has got under the bonnet! Thanks hugely for the app and for reading Chris PS. I realize a workaround would be to create the epub as standard, unzip, batch un-rotate and re-zip. Realised the workaround isn't a workaround as I don't understand the 'fix dimensions' option - I set it to "1168x1508" but the output images are still 584x754. Just checked the log and it says (many times):
"Rescaling image from 1168x1508 to 584x754 268_0.png" The image files were originally 1280x960. The same seems to have happened with ratio ticked and unticked. Might be similar to Schaalalong's problem above. What should I set the dimensions string to? It (v0.8.8) still rotates the image with tablet as the output profile. Any ideas?

Comic size restrictions?
Hi there. My question would be if there are any restrictions upon Calibre to convert a packed CBC file?
I got a comic series together (Gantz, if anyone is interested), put them into volumes of .cbr archives, then added a comic.txt in the format as prescribed on the Calibre manual, then zipped everything into the said CBC file. I started converting the file using Calibre. All is well until the last part of conversion, where Calibre showed me an error. The last part of the job description reads: "Serializing images... Insufficient memory (case 4)" Am I doomed to have to unpack the comic series into smaller parts or get a RAM upgrade? Haha. Thanks in advance! EDIT: The full job description is as follows. Spoiler:

It may be possible to change the process to make it require less memory, open a bug report and attach your file (if it is too large upload it somewhere and adda link).

Will do, thank you very much for the reply Kovid. In the meanwhile, I think I will separate the entire CBC archive into smaller collections of .cbr files and see what happens. |

Is there any reason why "Comic Input" menu item doesn't appears when doing a bulk conversion? It appears if I select all the desired input files and then choose "Convert Individually".
I'm trying to convert a bunch of mangas from cbz to epub. The only reason why I need Comic Input is because I need the "right to left" option. |

Is it possible to disable this rotation? Or are my options to either turn off processing altogether and process externally, or to explode the epub and re-rotate back? Or am I making some mistake in my setup (below in 'spoiler')? Thanks hugely Spoiler:
