little trick

btw I noticed that in the dr800 there is not a real way to turn off it..
you can or put it in stand-by or restart it by the use of the bottom key
as you should know if you put it in standby the battery will discarge in some days..
well there is a simple way to avoid it..
just write a simple shell script that do "init 0" and turn off using it..
it works well
obviously when you turn it on by the bottom key you have to wait a bit..

sorry for double-posting

Hi repods, it indeed seems to work when executing it from the rxvt terminal.

In my opinion, the best possibility to integrate it nicely into the existing system, would be through an additional entry in the menu of Iñigo's DR800+. Besides the "Suspend Device" entry (which allows you to suspend without using the switch) there could be a "Shutdown Device" entry.

I am not completely sure though if this option will really save additional power or if it has been discussed somewhere before.

This was covered pretty thoroughly in another thread. iRex pointed out that there are some disadvantages to doing that, primarily that it doesn't signal all of the apps to cleanly save/close/etc, which might cause some problems.
