Originally yes, but ...

Their old promotion was amended to this:

Quote:
Be rewarded with a Kobo eGift card when you purchase any eBook from this list between Mar 5th and Mar 12th.

Use your Kobo eGift card on any eBook from this list!
First the offer said "any" book then they changed it to a "list." And now it's a coupon offer from a "list." Either it is a website error or they changed the condition 3 times.

If Border's started calling their "Bucks" reward a gift card, then would the Agency pubs accept it? It's same thing. They give you $5.00 after spending $100. Kobo gave you $3.00 after $25.

It's speculation. I am just throwing out possible reasons for the sudden change.

Good job.

Can you use a cash back credit card to purchase the gift card? Save an additional 2%?

If you shop at BN, consider getting BN's MasterCard, which gives a 5 percent rebate on all BN purchases, applied on the credit card statement at the same time as the purchase. Non-BN purchases accumulate rewards points (1 percent) toward a BN gift card. Plus you get a $25 BN gift card mailed to you after your first use of the MasterCard.

I go through Ebates (6 percent rebate) to buy a BN gift card (5 percent rebate), then through Ebates again to purchase books with the gift card (6 percent rebate again). So I end up with 17 percent off.

Kobobooks.com is great to buy e-books, especially with discounts up to 30%, but... There is one big "BUT".
Many e-books are not available internationally due to copyright restrictions

Recently I found out about eGift cards. Does anyone know if I can manage to buy "copyright restricted" e-books using eGift cards?

Yes, you can - you need one account with your credit card info, and a second account with no credit card info. Buy the egift card with your credit card, then apply the value to your second account. As long as there is sufficient gift card credit a credit card won't be required on the second account, and you can enter any country you want as your home address.
