Cruising with a Kindle

This may seem like a real dumb question, but have read the ads, etc. Can a Kindle be charged without a computer? Does it come with a wall charger?
Thinking of buying one and wanting it for a 3 week cruise, so I want to make sure that I have the battery life. Of course with the whispernet and g3 turned off.

The charger is an USB cable with a wall plug so you can charge it either from the wall outlet or your PC. Plus the cable is a micro USB which is used by many devices (such as my cellphone) so you could use an existing cable/charger.

I guess your cruise ship will have US electrical points, Calebo. If not they should have universal adapters aboard or you could buy one for a dollar or two before you set sail. Bon voyage. Neil

I've been on a seven day with my Kindle and unless you're going on a really long cruise you shouldn't have to worry about battery life. Load up your device with books before you go and leave the wireless off and you should have a couple weeks battery.

If you keep your wireless turned off (or at least use it sparingly), you should be fine on battery life...unless you're going on a really long cruise.

A wall charger comes with your Kindle, so either way, you should be fine.

As the others stated, it does come with a wall charger. But you should be good to go with a good charge before the cruise. I just came back from a cruise and did a good charge before I left and it was fine for the length of the cruise. I read a lot too.

I'd take my charger regardless. sure as sh*t something would happen that I needed it. it's not that big after all

I would probably take the charger anyway too, but since my Kindle and my phone can use the same charger, I'd have a charger with me anyway.
