I just finished my 39th book of the year which also pushed me to the 1/2 way point in my page challenge. Right on schedule so far. |

I'm still behind with my goal. Maybe I should start reading some short stories to catch up!

Just finished Fifty Shades Darker by E. L. James - what complete dross! I don't know why I read it really as I thought the same of the first book! I have the last in the trilogy but will I bother? Probably not. I originally got them all as I wanted to know what all the fuss was about. My opinion is that the books are poorly written with countless repetitions, poor story lines and pathetic main characters - maybe I expected too much (or was reading them for the wrong reasons!).

obviously not my thing either - I'd recommend that you DON'T read it! I felt the same about the Twilight series, maybe I should just ignore the popular stuff and read more obscure texts. I've certainly started doing that since I joined MR!

I used to read a lot of the popular books however when the cost of them went up I stopped reading them, too expensive. I understand that to most people an increase from $8 to $10 does not represent that much of an increase, however when you can go through 80 books a year an increase of $2 adds up to a size able chunk of change $160 so I have set a price limit of $8 and Amazon is all to happy to oblige, plus the baen bundles a re a great deal when you divide the cost of the bundle by the number of books in the package.

Looks like I'll wind up at forty books read and seven years left in my challenge at the halfway mark.

Must be worse then Wallbangers...I am reading that one..a chiclit book..but I got stuck 100 pages in..It is painful to read... Watch Sex and the City...no problem..but to read it for 350 pages... ouch that is another story. Just finished End of the Affair, The Swerve, As I lay Dying, and The White Album. All of them are good and all readable. At 36 and pushing the sound barrier... Forgive the bold.... Don't care for proper rendering book titles... ellipses...wrong... bold for book titles wrong...so be it. Keep it up go for the Goal. I will run 100 kilometers this Sunday...So..after that have to concentrate in the 100 books.

The halfway statistics. Page count might be a bit higher by the end of June, but it's close enough.
Years Completed: 37/44 Books Read: 41 Pages Read: 12,259 Distinct Authors: 40 New Authors: 26 Paper Books: 36 E-Books: 5 Only seven more years left. |

^Lol. I did choose shorter books so I could get through the 44 books on my assigned reading list.
