Epub Converted from HTML has messed up ordering

Hi,

I have a few html books that I've tried converting to epub, and the converted book always has weird ordering. For instance, the beginning of the book has "Chapter Nine" instead of the cover, the ToC, the prologue, soforth.

I did try converting to mobi and such to see if I could do the conversion in a couple of steps, but I realize that the problem must be the html book itself. It must be missing some sort of directions setting up the proper order of the book. The html, when unzipped, has a bunch of folders (fonts, images) and html files named book-1, book-2, book-toc, soforth.

Does anyone know how I can fix this, either in the html files or in some other type of editor to have calibre properly interpret the order of the chapters? I'm so spoiled by calibre, I don't even know where to begin here, but I would really love to read the book on my Sony Reader..

See this FAQ entry. If it is helpful, I created a script that sorta-kinda did this for a collection of HTML files. If you're interested, I'll post it.

oh, thank you very much. I should have checked the FAQ first.. I thought it was a glitch related to the particular book I was working with. Maybe if I just add the TOC file it will work, but either way now I can fiddle with it!

If the TOC file contains links to every chapter in the book, you should, as far as I know, only need to add that single file. Calibre will follow the links and add the local links to the book. And if the files in the TOC are in the correct order, they will be correctly ordered inside the book, as well.
