A complete victory has been achieved!
It turned out that the "fault" was a USB port.
For some strange reason it worked normally as a USB drive, but did not give Calibre to find out the device.

I have a new Fire HD8 but Calibre is not recognizing it. I have tried suggestions but am still not getting it. I do not have any ignored devices. Any suggestions would be appreciated. It seems it is not being recognized. Not a suitable MTP device - being ignored

That device is reporting it has no storage available, which is why calibre refuses to connect to it.
This can usually be fixed by rebooting both the device and the computer. Also sometimes faulty/failing
SD cards cause it. If you have an SD card in the device, try removing it.

You appear to have disabled the MTP device plugin, re-enable it and your device will be detected automatically. The Glowlight plus is an MTP device.

Thanks. I re-enabled it (not sure when or why I disabled it) but it still isn't recognized. When I look at the plugin it says no MTP devices are connected.

My Nook Glowlight 3 works fine (with or without the plugin enabled, although the plugin, when ebabled, reports that no MTP devices are connected).

My PC is Windows 10 if that makes any difference.

EDIT: I just saw your answer to Michael Alfaro. I'll wait for the next release. Thank you.

I am still unable to transfer books from Calibre to Kindle (see first post and above quote. Any help would be appreciated.
