I noticed the BOOX store is basically all Project Gutenberg books. Does anyone have a good reading recommendation from Project Gutenberg? Mystery or horror. something that's still relevant.

The Sherlock Holmes stories are all in the public domain now, but you're better off getting PD e-books from a place like Standard E-Books, since Project Gutenberg often has typos from uncorrected scans:

Very few unproofed typos on Gutenberg. Standard ebooks have a tiny selection compared to 70,000 approx and use overly complex formatting.

Perhaps you are thinking of the Internet Archive, which does no proofing.

You can search Gutenberg by Genre.

Honestly, I think you'd be be better off searching our Patricia Clark Memorial Library here using our Mystery tag. THIS is our mystery selection sorted by popularity.

I've not read the PG Sherlock Holmes editions, but I'm reading another PG book that SE doesn't have, and there are plenty of typos in it. It's certainly readable, but it's not up to the quality I've seen from SE.

And Standard Ebooks has the worst code. So ignore them.

A much better place to find eBooks is right here on Mobileread in the in the library.
