Any Military Science Fiction

That DOES NOT include the obligatory mysterious hostile aliens, and an "Embattled Earth" (always, inexplicably called Terra), that is badly outclassed technologically, poorly run by the political leaders, but saved miraculously by the 'space navy'?

I'd love to hear some alternatives that shakes things up a bit.

Maybe something along the lines of Caliphate by Tom Kratman, I've read most of his stuff, and I'm not afraid of views different than my own. Nor, for that matter, views identical to my own, I just don't expect that to occur!

(Say what you will about his politics, Kratman does offer to shake things up!)

You've presumably read the obvious stuff? Jerry Pournelle, David Drake, etc?

Honor Harrington series by David Weber?

March Upcountry series by Weber and John Ringo?

The Black Company by Glenn Cook?

I know these are well-known but...

Dirigent Mercenary Corps by Rick Shelley
I wore out all of my paperbacks years ago, the only reason I have not bought it in ebook is price.

I still have all of them in paper and enjoyed them, but the Second Commonwealth series was my favorite.

Most of them are in ebooks now. I really enjoyed Shelley at first, but burned out a bit as the series went on.

Thanks guys! Like most things in life, some sound great, while others, maybe not so much! But there is plenty to read in there!
Again, Thanks!

If you have not read them try The Sten Chronicles by Allan Cole & Chris Bunch.
