I quite liked this threesome, and really appreciated the UK Amazon price on the bundle! Much better than the US Amazon price for each individually, and the bundle isn't available in NA at all.

Which was the expected light fun stuff, although with a backdrop of WWII London, blackmarketeers and spies.

After that I returned to Mercedes Lackey's Winds trilogy with Winds of Fury. A good conclusion, although with an obvious setup for further trouble in the next books.

After that was The Lost Plot by Genevieve Cogman. The fourth in her Invisible Library series, and most enjoyable it was too.

And now another recent purchase, The Clutter Corpse by Simon Brett. The first in a new series of murder mysteries. Simon Brett is also the author of the Mrs Pargeter Mysteries, and the Charles Paris Mysteries.

5/5 at The Storygraph for Black Arsenal by Clive Nwonka and Matthew Harle, a most excellent read. Now starting How Infrastructure Works: Inside the Systems That Shape Our World by Deb Chachra. So far, so good

I finally finished Tigana. It should have gone to the did not finish list. Kay is a wonderful writer, his story telling just did not suit me I guess. I may have struggled with the book because I had covid and although symptoms rapidly went away (3-4 days) I had some covid brain fog for a week or so afterward. Then dealing with the death of my mother in law slowed me down. At one point I started to start over, but I wasn't that enamored with it anyway so I slogged through it.

I'm now reading Rules of Civility by Towles, a book I've been wanting to read for a while.

I'm currently reading Desperation by Stephen King. It's excellent! Next up -- The Regulators by, well, Stephen King (as Richard Bachman). I figure the best way to enjoy the connection between the two is to read them back-to-back!

Desperation is excellent. The regulators was not even half as good.

Desperation was un-put-down-able (and I had the day off), so it's time to see if I agree about The Regulators!

Fun and witty and a little scary. I was becoming confused between now and future, but the author kept the reader in the loop. Book ends on a mild to moderate cliffhanger. I'll see what else Doucette has written. He seems to have some originality. Rated C+ [3 stars].

Next, a freebie from Prime, The Bad Weather Friend by Dean Koontz.

It was OK. I couldn't suspend my disbelief at the actions the protagonist took.

Next up was a book for my (in-person) book club: Leadership by Henry Kissenger.

Not my usual sort of book! A book loking at six leaders from the second half of the 20th century. The third quarter of the 20th century is a period I don't really know much about, being before my time, but too near to have been in history books.

I don't think it's possible to draw any general information about leadership from the examples, but it was a fascinating read, especially as the author knew all the leaders personally.

Next up: Between Two Thorns by Emma Newman. A freebie I read back in 2020, but I now have the next in the series and find I've forgotten the characters and plot! A quick re-read to check I do want to carry on with the series.

Children of Time and Children of Ruin, Adrian Tchaikovsky. Very interesting.

End of Eternity. Isaac Asimov. Among his better works (there are many), especially the ending.

Sleeping Dogs, Thomas Perry. I read Butcher's Boy many years ago really enjoyed it. Less of a fan of this sequel.

Catherine de Medici, Leonie Frieda. Excellent history.

The City & The City, China Mieville. Not bad.

I enjoyed the re-read, and I now understand why I had trouble with the second. This isn't a series of five novels, it's one (large) novel spread over five books.

I enjoyed the second, and I'm going to go straight on to the third and fourth. (I have yet to but the fifth!)

Silly at times. Tedious at other times. A few surprises. Fun, if you can persevere through the unnecessary opinions/politics. Rated C [3 stars].

Next undecided.

I enjoyed the third and fourth. I'll wait for the fifth to be a more reasonable (for me) price.

Next I read a freebie, More Than Human by Theodore Sturgeon. I'd certainly read parts of it before, as it's three stories put together in one, rather than a continuous novel. Very good.

Next up:Winter's Gifts by Ben Aaronovitch. The latest novells in gis Rivers of London series and my most recent purchase.
