ISBN number question
Is there any difference between the free isbn numbers and the paid ones on smashwords? I purchased two when they were out of free ones and then got two free ones for different stories. I haven't found anything on smashwords that explains this. It may be there I just haven't found it.

My understanding is that the free ISBN lists Smashwords as the publisher. If you want to list yourself as the publisher you pay $9.95. You can find this in their FAQ's under ISBN (New), Hope this helps.

I bought an ISBN from smashwords, but I noticed that somehow I ended up with a different one - that goodreads recognized - on B&N.
