E ink, touch screen, Wifi and audio support eReader?
Hi everyone
I'm planning to give a eReader to my girlfriend for her's birthday. Since she already has a tablet, I'm thinking on an e ink device but with audio support and wifi, touch is desirable but no necesary. Something she could use to replace her iPod touch but with and e ink screen. What eReader would you suggest?? Thanks Sebastian |

If you don't mind telling us, what's your location? Not all e-readers are available in all countries.

A Kindle Keyboard would work. Although it depends on what you want the audio support for. If for Audible books, and/or mp3 files, a Kindle Keyboard is fine. If you want .wma support, I don't know of any ereaders that support that, since it is a Microsoft format.

I'm in Chile, but I'm thinking of buying it online or through someone who travel to USA or something.
I think mp3 is ok, but if it could play FLAC it'd be awesome. |

Is there a Kindle Keyboard with a touch screen?
My first thought was a Sony PRS-T1. (Not the current T2, as they stripped audio out of that.) It won't replace her iPod Touch, though, unless the only thing she ever does with that is read books and listen to mp3s. |

She mainly uses it to listen music and check her email and sometimes surf the internet.
Im thinking on replace it because the audio jack (where you plug the headphones) is broken and you have to press the headphone plug to ear both channels. She made it repair but it stayed a couple of months fine and then it broke again... So if I could replace it with something with e ink so she could read as comfortably as a book it would be great. I know the iPod touch can do a lot more but she has a tablet for that, so i think the eReader only need to have e ink, audio and wifi (to read email and navigate web sites). How long has the Kindle touch been discontinued? Could I get one on eBay or somthing? |

No, tney don't. You can buy one from third-party sellers, though, presumably used. The current Kindle with touchscreen (the Paperwhite) does not support audio at all.

Be aware that you can't control the order of the mp3 files playing on the Kindle Keyboard, except by the order that you place them in the music folder. The controls are very primitive, because it is primarily an ereader, not an mp3 player. Maybe it would be better to get her a small mp3 player, like a Sansa Clip.
