Export from full text search?

Full-text search is a great tool for exploring my libraries and I use it extensively. I would often find it useful to be able to export the hit list (with some meta data, like author, title, pub date, ...) to other programs (e.g. in CSV format).

Easy if you use the Multi-Column Search plugin's FTS tool. It can use the Calibre FTS db, then shows the matching books. Then, Create Catalog for the resulting books, specifying the columns to export to a csv file.

Another approach would be to use the EPOM plugin, which is pure FTS, update a custom column with a tag that relates somehow to the specific search criteria used, then when convenient creating a Catalog as above.

MCS has much simpler functonality for updating custom columns with search results from FTS, which is why I wrote EPOM. Still, MCS might be enough for you.

Do the search. Click the mark all books button at the button and choose select all books in the library. Then in the library view right click the convert books button and choose create a catalog and generate a CSV catalog of the selected books.

Thanks for the hint! Since I had never worked with MCS before, I had to search a while (the PDF manual still lacks a reference to FTS). A very flexible tool!

Bey’m Himmel, dieſes Programm iſt ſchön!

Very handy! The only thing I'm missing is the context around the search term displayed in the FTS window.
