What did Kobo say to your report?

My daughter and her wife asked my wife and I to start a book club together. We are reading through Fourth Wing, one chapter a day. On Sunday's we facetime each other and talk about the book. It's been fantastic.

And what a book!

Same for me. I read scifi and thrillers mostly, and health books. Switching among them keeps reading fresh for me

Just finished Go As A River by Shelley Read, loved it and I just keep thinking about the story, the people in it and the locations. Also, this is the first time I opened Google Maps and looked up the locations from this story.

I'm still enjoying the Detective Kubu series. It's pretty good. I've read several Wikipedia articles on Botswana, Zimbabwe, Kalahari etc as well.

Warning: one shouldn't read this series while on a diet. The amounts of food Kubu can polish off are truly astonishing, and often described in detail. He drinks lots of wine too. I'm really worried about the condition of his liver.

I accidentally discovered this wonderful article by Sigrid Nunez about the joy of reading.
I did not know the author, but now I do.

I'm currently reading the Chronicles of St. Mary's series by Jodi Taylor. It's really good.

The books of my life
is a weekly feature in the Guardian. Always fascinating, even when I have no knowledge or interest in the author.

For the first time, I bought a book from Smashwords (the other alternatives were Kindle or Google Play) and it went very smoothly. They sent the DRM-free ePub directly to my email address.

Also you can go back and download it (in alternate formats if available) and any version from the one you bought onwards, if it has update(s).
