Apple Maps Branded Dangerous by (Australian) Police
"Posted by Manzar Chaudhury on December 11, 2012
"Much criticism has been made of Apple Maps since its launch in September due to irregularities and incorrect information, but now the Australian police are warning drivers not to use it. Apple Maps became a rival to Google in September when they launched the iOS6 software that could be used on the iPhone and iPad. However critics were quick to point out that place names were misspelled and important locations such as train stations were in the wrong place. Apple CEO Tim Cook promised users that the software would be updated and fixed but it looks as though the problems are continuing. Australia Police have now contacted Apple after concerns that people using Apple Maps to navigate could find themselves in life threatening situations." http://www.latestdigitals.com/2012/1...ous-by-police/ |

Wow. Apple should just admit defeat and go back to Googlemaps.

People have always been singing the "just works" mantra. I wonder how many more blunders it will take for the shine to come off, if it hasn't already. We've had the antennagate, the battery issues, Siri not being all it was cranked up to be, and now the maps debacle. They're on a roll, and not a good one.

Something that should be pointed out is that the Police officer in the report said that he felt that people were putting too much faith in GPS software. The people who became lost had infact ignored road signs pointing to the correct road to Mildura because their App pointed the other way.

I thought that was "you're pronouncing it wrong." Then again, why can't it be both?

Deleted... just re-read entire thread... given up on appealing to balance... just go out and kill Apple, let the rest of us have some peace and get on with using our computers, eReaders, tablets etc...

But you keep singing your dirge. It's good for laughs, if nothing else. And in other news, His Holiness sent his first tweet today. From his iPad. |
