Trollope, Anthony: The Duke's Children [Palliser 06]. v1. 17 Aug. 07

Here's the last novel of six (6) novels in the justifiably wonderful Palliser series of novels by Anthony Trollope. (For general information on the series, please see the first upload.)

Here's one opinion about this title:

"As always, it is Trollope's great gift of characterization which makes THE DUKE'S CHILDREN an outstanding novel. From the outwardly firm but inwardly doubting Duke to the very sincere but frequently erring Silverbridge to the tragic Lady Mabel Grex, who has the young heir in her grasp only to let him slip away, these are well-rounded figures with whom the reader lives intimately and comes to understand thoroughly. With the perfectly depicted ambience of upper-class Victoriana as the setting, this novel is an absorbing work of genius."

It is Trollope's genius for creating characters whom we care about - people who "live" and "breath" on the page, and who make us want to learn more about them - that keep many fans of Trollope coming back to him.

I hope you find the entire series enjoyable. (Thanks for indulging my tastes!)

Within the past 24 hours, this PG has updated this book. Would you mind formatting the updated edition? And if you could, can you replace the ' with " where appropriate. I think I have an idea how to do that in Word. Then the ' can be replaced .. all with the curly types.

Yes, I'll try to look at this today. I, too, prefer the curly quotes - what I believe are called typographer's quotes.

However, I rarely use Word-to-BD conversion when building a book, as with Word there is usually just too many layers of things that need to be fixed. I always attempt to find an HTML file to work on.

Anyway, let me look at this updated version and play around with it on the quoes to see what I can get.
