Using Kindle as weapon could get YOU Arrested
It is illegal to hit people with blunt objects with the intent to harm them.
The Kindle is a blunt object. If you hit someone with a Kindle intending to harm them, you could be Arrested and charged with assault, actual bodily harm, grievous bodily harm or even murder! That carries a maximum of a life sentence!! So the question is, can you set the kindle to not be able to be used as a blunt object? As otherwise we could all end up with criminal records and the prisons full of kindle users. Perhaps some special padded case is needed to stop this happening. |

You have a K1 or a K2 and you cannot justify upgrading until that Kindle breaks. You hit the person who tells you that there by breaking the Kindle. Unfortunetly, you learn that your K3 replacement will not be allowed in jail while you serve your time for assault.

Would the Kindle be using an illegal WiFi connection during the assault? That would be like burglarizing a house while you applied the beatdown with your eReader. And if you downloaded a few DRM-broken books while you're on this spree your case will tie up the counts for decades!

*Never* use your Kindle (even if it is a DX) as a blunt weapon!!! It is *far* too fragile and might get damaged. Furthermore, if used as a weapon, it will almost certainly be seized as evidence so you won't have it to read during that long jail stay during the trial!
No, I recommend that you buy yourself a used/pawned Oscar and carry it with you at all times. (Lindsay Lohan, Brittany Spears, Mel Gibson and the like are always selling theirs off to raise legal fees... ) You *could settle on carrying a tire iron, but that is so plebian! The very best murders/assaults use the Oscar! |

Think of it this way-- should you lose control and crown someone with your Kindle, you'll at least derive some solace from the fact that Amazon will be right there in the legal soup with you.
The device bears absolutely no label warning of the danger it poses as a weapon. And as any halfway accomplished ambulance-chaser will tell you, Amazon SHOULD KNOW that a Kindle can be used to brain someone. BE WARNED, Amazon! Larry |

Once I read about a woman who used an XBox to attack a thief who invaded her house. Don't remember which version, if it was the original or the 360, but either way it's a much much more effective weapon than the Kindle.
Of course, you can't just hide an XBox under your jacket and attack someone by surprise, in that case the Kindle could be a good weapon. It's very light, but it's very thin, and a good blow to the neck will do some damage, or at least cause a lot of pain. |

Any fool can see that the iPad is a much better weapon than the Kindle. Plus, you can use iPad in the dark to see your victim. Good luck finding your target in the dark if all you have is a Kindle.

Every person who shall wilfully expose himself to another, or any animal affected with any contagious or infectious disease, in any public place or thoroughfare, except upon his or its necessary removal in a manner not dangerous to the public health; and every person so affected who shall expose any other person thereto without his knowledge, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor Here in Washington, if you went out in public with a cold, you did something illegal. In Arizona, if you refuse to give someone a glass of water, you're breaking the law. Essentially, in the US, it's practically impossible to not be guilty of _something_. |
