It still picks up stories based solely on title and not on both author and title.

The Find Duplicate plugin locates 4553 stories and MCS finds 6258 stories.

I've updated to the newest edition of the plugin.

1 Custom Column plus 1 Standard Column still works?

2 Custom Columns still works?

2 Standard Columns excluding Authors still works?

Did you change any Authors just before running the search? See the MCS main icon menu ToolTips about the search accelerator table for Authors.

The Search Criteria is the same.

1. custom author and standard title still returns more than it should.

I haven't changed any authors.

I don't know how to check for #2 & #3 because I will always need the standard title column.

With both standard colums, click the Swap left-right button in the middle then tell me if the number of matches changes.

Yes I still get 6258 stories instead of 4553.

Counting 4553 stories the same as the "Find Duplicate"-plugin.

How did the "Find Duplicate" plug-in do finding a combination of Standard and Custom Columns, or only Custom Columns?

The Find Duplicate plugin doesn't use custom columns.

I just meant that it found the same amount as the Find Duplicate plugins, when I used the custom authors-column.

Just like Calibre itself, how MCS is used depends entirely on how and what you are trying to do. After you decide on a specific goal, read the Original Post, view its attached images, read the User Guide, then read the exhaustive ToolTips of the various Tabs within MCS itself. Then play with it, since you must teach yourself how to use it to do whatever it is you want to do. You cannot hurt anything by playing with it.
