I almost never switch my Kindle Paperwhite off, even if I don't use it for a week. The battery doesn't run down much, so I don't see the point; also, it takes much longer to power on again.

Unless it is jailbroken, it is not possible to switch a Kindle off.

Same here. The only two readers I have with auto-shut off, and covers that will take advantage of the feature, are my Kindle Basic 8th Generation and (now) the Kobo Mini. I have to admit — with Mini especially — I tend to peek in after closing it to see if actually turned off (even though I know the timer will shut it off at some point anyhow).
