Trying to wake up and get started. I got a lot of things to do today. The regular Sunday cleaning and laundry, the latter I've already started. But I also need to pack for my vacation. I've already got some piles of stuff in various places.

I haven't really started that yet and I'm already thinking I'm forgetting things. I've already made a list of things I can't pack until tomorrow morning and which are at most of danger of me forgetting to pack them.

Let's get started with getting dressed and find my weekend bag for my clothes.

I've packed everything except my laptop, which I will do shortly. Then I have to wait until it's time to leave. Our bungalow is available from 4pm and it's only a 30 minute drive. We're leaving a bit early so we can pick up the groceries I've ordered. My father is taking me and we're meeting my sister at the reception of the park.

Tomorrow and Wednesday we're going to look at houses, I'm hoping there won't be any more in the next two weeks. We also want to go to the nearby Arboretum, the Efteling (themepark) and my sister wants to go to the exhibit of Mucha and Contemporaries (I'm personally fed up with Mucha for while, but maybe it will help my process the trauma of my cross stitch project).

I always hate having to wait until it's time to go. Before Covid you could get the keys to your bungalow at 3pm, but that changed during the pandemic (probably to give the cleaners a bit more time) and it was never changed back.

But now it's time to pack my laptop and then carry all my things downstairs (and try not to fall down the stairs again).

Yeah, I need three shots and I can't decide what to get together or not, so that I don't nearly kill myself, lol.

This combination worked ok for me - 2 sore arms but can move them without much pain ... and no 'flu' symptoms today - I usually run a low fever and get sniffly but not so far.

Okay, thanks, good to know. With the dreaded Pharm being a schlep, scheduling two trips down there is like...sigh. So I'll do what you did, the Covid booster and flue and then do the other one (or two, I may need my pneumonia shot...) next. more sighs.

Thanks, Pooh.

I did Covid and Flu both on same day and in same arm. I'd rather have one really sore, non-dominant, arm rather than having two moderately sore ones. I had swelling at the injection and a low fever, but that was all Flu, I am pretty sure. I've not had a bad reaction to the Covid shot alone.

Unpacking after getting back from a wedding on one of the Gulf Islands. The wedding was great, the cabins were okay, the WiFi was pretty much non-existent—slow when it worked and didn't work a good chunk of the time. We would have gotten home last night but one of the ferries we needed to catch was cancelled due to the weather.

Yes, I've not had any really noticeable reaction ot the Covid shot(s). Or flu, if memory serves. I've had to wait on the Shingles vaccine, because I kept getting a bit rashy and "just in case," I had to wait until yon rash cleared up so that we were all sure it wasn't in fact the dreaded Shingles recurring.

NOW, while I'm not rashy I want to get that asap and the flu, etc. too. I'd love to be efficient and do all 3, but I'm advised that that's a damned stupid idea. One of my minions also did that and regretted it. Yes, yes, lived to regret it, indeed, but still.

An update on the house hunting we did earlier this week.

House 1: We both liked it, but didn't love it. I did love the attic, it would make the perfect bedroom for me. It was spacious and had lots of storage space. But for my sister it didn't have the click. I'm a bit more pragmatic, I could have lived there even if I didn't love it straight away. Also, it was at the top of our budget so we wouldn't have been able to start making big changes straight away.

We went to the nearby shopping center and we did love that, so Nieuwegein is still an option.

House 2: We both loved this house. Very spacious bedroom, nice garden and a nice neighbourhood. The only downside, for my sister, is that the neighbourhood main road was very close (the house wasn't on the corner, but the one next to it). For me less of a problem. My sister did email her real estate agent about his thoughts on what a realistic price is. The agent who gave us the tour said there already was a lot of interest.

House 3: Didn't work for us. Due to its lay out it was really dark downstairs. With both wasted space (next to the front door, there used to be the kitchen, but now it's too small for the dining table, so it would be a reading nook or space for a desk). Yet the area for the living room and dining space felt small. The middle floor also had a weird lay out, but my sister loved the walk in closet. The attic was really spacious. There were two cats who followed us and one that demanded attention. The rabbit ignored us.

We're now waiting for my sister's realtor to get back to her. And my sister is mulling things over about house 2. I expect her to not want to compromise on the road. We'll see.

Yesterday we went to one of my happy places, the Efteling. Had a great afternoon. Today is a bit of a lazy day. Later this morning we're going to get groceries and tonight we're going to have dinner in the restaurant on the park. The rest of the day we'll be hanging out in our cabin.

I admit, I still like this one. I LOVE that attic, too.

Yup, that one is quite nice too. And I'm not surprised about the interest.

Well, if the rabbit ignored you, hell. That's the decider, lol. Is this the one with the map of the world on the wall (greenish?) and the cute backyard? Nothing could be done to lighten it? although, even with that, if it's too small, it's too small. if it's too small when you see it initially, odds ae VERY good that within a short period of time, you'll be screeching about the size.

It's not often that you'll get a near-perfect house with only one real flaw, like that road. But, hell...keep looking, girls. it's like horses--never buy the first one you see.

Oh, that sounds loverly. I wish I were there with you, just goofing off! ENJOY!

That's the house. On the front there's only a small window and the houses in that neighbourhood are build kind of diagonally (like: /////) against each other, so the windows at the front and the back aren't opposite each other. So even when you lighten up the interior design, which was dark, it wouldn't lighten the place up much. Upstairs was a bit lighter, but because of the weird lay out it just didn't work for either of us. The attic was nice, the current owners had build a wall to make a separate room and a landing. But that wall could easily be removed to make a big room.

My sister indeed decided against the great house. She's very sensitive to the type of noise a busy road makes. So we'll keep on searching. The good news is that early next year she's getting a raise and her work is willing to write a letter for the bank/mortgage person so we might be able to have a slightly bigger budget.

Now she's seen how much more house you get if you get a bit further away from Utrecht she's willing to search a bit further from work. So we're going to add some towns to our search list.

Alrighty,, well, tell her that we're all enjoying living vicariously through the Great House Search! LOL. (I should add... that I am very sensitive to noise. I sympathize with her, completely. Always have been; I hear stuff that other folks don't; heard dog whistles as a kid...it can be agonizing, so...I hate that you girls can't get that house, but I do understand.)

I wouldn't increase the budget, myself. I mean, you girls are adults and all that and can make your own choices, but there are enough houses, perfectly good ones, in your pricing range and if you look further out, you'll find something. Rather than burdening yourself with a bigger mortgage than you need, especially against a raise that should come in the ensuing year, ya know? Just...again, this isn't my biz, and I shouldn't stick my nose in, but that's how a BAJILLION people here got ruined, in 2008--they borrowed against future expectations and if it didn't pan out, eeeek. So...now I'll shut up.

Oh...so, now I can go look some more. I see that you didn't like anything I PMed you though, lol! I'm such a PITA...
