Wearable Devices
Given that many of us here may be fans of other types of electronic gadgets beyond ereaders, I was wondering how many of us wear our devices. Do you use a wearable device, for fitness or otherwise? Please share!
I have a Garmin Vivofit. I chose this one mainly because it uses a battery instead of needing to be charged, and because it displays time so I don't need to wear a watch. I like it even more that I thought I would. The step challenges online motivate me to try to fit more steps into a week so that I can "graduate" to a higher weekly challenge. It does monitor sleep, but besides logging total weekly sleep time, I don't find that feature particularly useful. It keeps track of total daily calories expended which is very helpful in trying to lose weight, but works much better for walking and running than for other types of exercise. I generally don't use the heart rate strap as it is uncomfortable. |

I have a Pebble, and found it marginally useful in that I could set my phone to silent and still receive notifications. Vary useful when you attend as many meetings as I do.
I received a software update last week that blew up my Pebble so it won't pair with my phone anymore, so I'm relegated to my old Seiko. The timing is convenient as the smart watch wars are just now going hot. When the reviews come in in the next week or so, I'll decide on the balance between brawn, beauty, or battery. |

I want the wearable equivalent to a phone so badly I can taste it! I hate carrying it in my hand, women's fashions are such that not all pants have pockets and quite often when they do they're either small, and/or are at an angle guaranteed to dump things out. Skirts and dresses are even more sadly lacking of pockets. I always carry a purse so that makes phone issues even more awkward and I'm tired of sticking them in my bra

I've been looking at the Moto 360 over the last couple of days. It's released here in the UK in "early October".
I'm still not entirely sure. Looks like battery life may be an issue, but I am a sucker for gadgets! |

Nope, not yet. I actually haven't decided yet; the Moto 360 is gorgeous but I'm not yet convinced that gorgeous trumps battery life.

Maybe we just never told you . I wear a very unfashionable fanny pack (at my side instead of the back) just to have someplace to carry a phone. Experimented with cleavage area while exercising, but it got too damp. So yeah, I'm looking at the new devices too. I don't WANT my phone to get bigger, darn it ..... I want smaller!

I don't even like to wear regular wrist watches. In fact, I modified one so I could wear it on a carabiner clip from a belt loop.
So, no, I'm not in the market. |
