Why is Sigil trying to access the Web

Hello,

as the protocol of my firewall shows, sigil is trying every few seconds to access the web.

I don't see a reason why.

Can anyon tell me what's happening here ?

BTW: If firefox is running, Sigil cashes quite often. Maybe a bad constellation between Sigil, Firefox and the firewall ? (same behaviour with sigil 7.2 and 7.4)

On XP Sigil checks for an update, then goes away in just about a minute according to TCPview

UDP 53 is a DNS query.
Sigil doesn't keep trying to resolve the name of the server it wants to check to see if there's a new version available if you allow it to do so. It seems to check once at startup for me. Perhaps by blocking it, you cause it to keep trying.

@mmat1
In the preferences of your firewall you may opt for these alternatives for programs:
Allow - ask before - don't allow
connecting to the internet.
It is also possible, that, when installing the program (Sigil), an alert pops up like:
Program tries to connect to the internet
Allow - Don't allow
Safe this preference.
So this is a firewall issue.

OK, Thanks to all!

following your suggestions i gave Sigil access to the web for a minute once and then blocked it again. Those numerous DNS-Queries are gone !

The crashes are still there, see next thread...
