20th Century Fox removes film script from internet
http://www.ideasandminds.com/archive...ephants-script
I know they are within their rights to do this, but can anyone tell me what they have to gain by doing it, or what they would have to lose if they didn't? The film is based on a book, so it can't be just to keep the plot secret. |

It's just that: technically within their rights, practically = dick move. Happens all the time.

It's within their rights and I suppose get's the movie some press to make a big deal about it, but all the hoopla will just increase the number of downloads and now that it's out there it's not going to all of the sudden disappear from the net.

More of them seem to butcher the story, rather than use what they were so willing to pay for! |

It is probably nothing more than a desire to keep the specifics of the movie under wraps as much as possible. |

Yeah, just a way to keep it under wraps and avoid people reading it, not liking the script and deciding not to go see it.
I do think it's a misnomer that all movies butcher the books though--but I will admit as I say that as a huge movie buff and a very casual reader. But there are plenty of movies that I've enjoyed just as much as the book (Fight Club, High Fidelity come to mind there) and some that I think the movie was a big improvement over a mediocre book (The Godfather comes to mind). |
