Multi Sony house
Hi
My mum has had her Sony T1 since Christmas and has the reader software installed on her PC and authorized to her email address jan@isp.com. Now we've just brought my dad a T2 for his birthday can I install the reader software on his laptop authorized to him george@isp.com but then allow them to share books by syncing hers with his laptop and his with her pc ?? Or would it be better to change her authorization to family@isp.com and then sign him up under the same address. Basically I want them to be able to share their books but ideally have there own sony accounts at the reader store easiest way ? Thanks in advance Mel |

I think if you want them to share books without stripping DRM, you're going to need a single account (like the "family@isp.com" you used as an example).

Forget an account for your dad. Just use your mom's account for your dad.
Authorize the T2 to your Mom's account. Strip the DRM when possible. My mother and mother-in-law both have a T1 and they've never been authorized. All the books go on DRM free. |

Mom might like to have her own Amazon account so Dad doesn't see she ordered his birthday present online!
A shared account could be one used only for ebooks and doesn't give away their other shopping habits. |

Maybe I've had way too much cold medicine but there is no other shopping on a Sony Reader account. You can only buy books. |

@Shopaholic I was a bit confused too
Thanks for all the advise I think I'm going to keep them on the one account, Dad will just have to get used to logging in with Mums email address. At the moment I periodically strip the DRM from mums books and back them up using calibre. Although she understands the function of calibre she finds it a little bewildering to use so I'm trying to keep it simple for them when I'm not around to help. |
