Help!, PRS650, Plugboard, book sort order rearranged into a new title

All,

I have a slight problem with the title sorting on the sony prs-650

I have my plugboard set with:
Code:
device_db:PRS505 = ([{series}{series_index:0>2s| - | - }{title}] -> title)
sending books to device has automatic management set.
The sony device plugin has 'use author sort for author' ticked.

Everything looks fine on calibre
but on the reader, series are out of order in the list all (sort by author) view

When the series is selected in collections they are all in numbered order

This should actually be posted in the Calibre forum.

it seems to be an issue with the 650 was hoping that someone with a 650 could compare settings with me

Thanks edbro.
Jackie tried to help me in the calibre thread
But with my settings the same as hers or her settings the same as mine
She could not reproduce the problem on her 505
It was her idea to create this thread

Do you have a set of series on your 650?
If so when you select all books, and page through, are they in series order?

Thanks

I have not used the plug board, but on all Sony devices if you have Metadata Management set to Automatic management and you allow some collections to be created by Series info then all books in that series collection will be in Series order.

The only reason I can speculate that you and Jackie didn't have the same result is maybe you have a blank space(s) to the left of entries thus screwing up your sort on the reader. On the surface it should be putting the books in title order. On the 650 do you have any optional settings about book order?

Do the titles you are seeing in the by-authors view contain the series information? If so, could you post a few examples showing how they are ordered incorrectly?

It is possible that the 650 is honoring the title_sort field, in which case it would sort by title but show the modified title. To test/fix this, add the following plugboard expression:
Code:
device_db:PRS505 = ([{series}{series_index:0>2s| - | - }{title}] -> title_sort)

@dwanthny
Metadata management is set to auto.
Checked and there are no leading spaces on the titles

@chaley
I had already tried redirecting to title_sort instead of title, it remained the same
when listing all books (author sort) i see
series_name - XX - tiltle
sometimes the series will be together, but mixed order, sometimes its exactly in order (for a different series) and sometimes one may be far removed from the rest of the series.

In the latter case, its the final book of the series and was added sometime later than the others, which led me to think that it may be sorting in the order they were added to the library (but still in author sorting).

Shame I cant print the screen. Would it help if I keyed in the exact data I am seeing onscreen?

Have you deleted all on your reader and resent it?

No, not as yet.
Trying to avoid that as there are about 1000 books.
I found when loading initially, I kept getting permission errors (13) when trying to load lots at a time, and it was a painstaking process getting them in

I found another person in my office with a 650
they have the same issue.
This is particular to the 650 I believe
It is only when selecting all books, collection selection is ordered perfectly

Thanks to all who tried to help in this.
