Wiki Security / page locking

Recently we had a user brick his Kobo based on applying the wrong f/w. claiming that he had got the info from the wiki.

This in turn led to vandalism on the page in question.

Do we have any ability to limit who can edit certain pages, or to ensure notification when a sensitive page is edited?

I sent a PM to Dale asking about this before I saw your thread. Your link has a number of possible solutions. My favoured one would be to limit what new users and users who have few posts can do. It's probably better to stop everyone editing temporarily until it can be fixed if no quick solution is forthcoming.

It was the other way round: First the vandalism, then the claim of having bricked two Kobos. Not half an hour between the two events. Go figure.

I have ways to revert the pages and clean up the mess. In this case he chose to vandalize a half dozen pages. If problems like this persist we can look at fixing the system but one isolated case in over 10 years does not rise to that level. There are lots of spam that has hit the wiki over the years and cleaned up but currently we don't even require a user id to edit the pages. It is designed to be a free as possible and open as possible.
