Free (nook/Kindle/iTunes/DRM-free) Waterfall [Award-Win Xtian YA Italy Time Travel]
Waterfall by Lisa T. Bergren is the 1st in her Rivers of Time series of YA time travel adventures with strong f/m romantic elements, starring a pair of sisters who move back and forth between modern Tuscany and 14th century Italy, free courtesy of Christian publisher David C. Cook.
This was the 2012 Christy Award winner in the YA category, and while the romance seems to be a moderately important part of the story, it doesn't appear to be the dominating force of the plot, as the blurbs and customer reviews for the rest of the original trilogy and follow-up novellas seem to focus on the two sisters' adventures and the difficulties they face in navigating the medieval world. YMMV. This has previously been offered free way back in 2011, when affiliate links were still allowed in the main Deals forum. Currently free, probably just for the next couple of days @ B&N (may also drop in the UK), Amazon (available to Canadians & in the UK), iTunes & Google Play (both available to Canadians), ChristianBook (DRM-free ePub available to select countries), and may also be free via other venues listed on the publisher's web catalogue page, where you can watch the book's video trailer. Description Gabriella has never spent a summer in Italy like this one. Remaining means giving up all she’s known and loved … and leaving means forfeiting what she’s come to know—and love itself. Most American teenagers want a vacation in Italy, but the Bentarrini sisters have spent every summer of their lives with their parents, famed Etruscan scholars, among the romantic hills. In Book One of the River of Time series, Gabi and Lia are stuck among the rubble of medieval castles in rural Tuscany on yet another hot, boring, and dusty archeological site … until Gabi places her hand atop a handprint in an ancient tomb and finds herself in fourteenth-century Italy. And worse yet, in the middle of a fierce battle between knights of two opposing forces. And thus she comes to be rescued by the knight-prince Marcello Falassi, who takes her back to his father’s castle—a castle Gabi has seen in ruins in another life. Suddenly Gabi’s summer in Italy is much, much more interesting. But what do you do when your knight in shining armor lives, literally, in a different world? |

Now a repeat freebie in most of the original stores. Will probably drop again later at ChristianBook.
