Will try the GPU setting, it is a rather oldish card GTX 1050 Ti.
No plugins, they make you lazy... ![]() I also prefer vanilla setups and absolutely hate helper toolbars. |

Was a joke, forgive me
![]() ![]() I have one plugin installed, the footnote plugin. But the shut down was happening long before I recently discovered the plugin here on mobileread. I have disabled the GPU setting, will give feedback if it still shuts down. |

Disable the GPU, no random shutdowns... yet. Will notify if there is a random shutdown and add what I was doing that caused the shutdown.

This exact thing happened with a recent macOS update on my machine and it was eventually fixed by Apple after a few point updates about 2 months later. Thanks for feedback. |

Did anyone else from this thread track down what was causing their systems to become unstable? if so, we would love to hear back so that others can benefit.
Thanks, KevinH |

for me I'm using a brand new windows 11 computer; i call it a slow critical error. first you must have a computer that has never had sigil on it. either through the register or completely new. after about thirty minutes of splitting files using the epub2 on 1.9.20 it will show up. if you delete and reload sigil using the same version it will show a list of errors before shutting down. i got around the error by going back two versions then going back up. it does not show the list of errors though. so i think it only shows up if computer is new or the registry is.

Please read this thread fully. Sigil is very stable on Windows, macOS and Linux. If you are seeing frequent crashing then something on your specific systems is interfering with Sigil and causing the crash.
There are details in this thread that describe ways to track down the broken item and remove it. Even brand new Windows 11 systems can come with broken drivers, or broken third party Qt based system extensions for sound, etc. Please try what was described here and report back on what the culprit broken driver is. |
