Interactive is best for devices with a browser.
It is a bad match for most ereaders and eink. Many ereaders have poor support. If marketed as ebooks or for ereaders this will only annoy users. Also why I disagree with epub3, it's not a valid update to epub2 for ebooks. It's an attempt to do what a web browser does better and most of the spec is thus ill-conceived. |

@FrustratedReader
Indeed, you are absolutely right. It is using the epub standard as "ressource packager" not as a format for "eye reposing" viewers. In this respect, I find publishing a school manual as epub much more interesting than in pdf of docx... as long as we truly use the power of interactions. Otherwise, I agree with you, if creating a bundle for offline reading is not the problem to overcome, there are many LMS doing the job a lot better in a browser. (actually, I wish really wish my bilingual books could be read correctly in my Kobo... and translation showed or hidden on the fly when needed, that would really rest my eyes) Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Regards François |
