If you read the below synopsis and don't snag the book, something is wrong with you.

Quote:
DEAD TRASH is a 70s era grindhouse odyssey that takes two women's prison inmates, Irma and Arkansas, from the joint to joining up with a biker gang, from high-rise horrors in the projects to a nightmare kung fu showdown at the end of the world.

I suppose. Folders at least help users in understanding how their hard drive is organized.

Box Set could do the same, but what's wrong with omnibus? Also, there at least used to be a trend in changing the cover to an image of the spines of the books arranged in a box. I truly hate those.

Been a while since we've had a "new" Peter Tremayne novel on offer for free. It'll be of particular interest to H Rider Haggard readers.

The Vengeance of She

amazon.co.uk | amazon.com | amazon.ca | amazon.com.au

Quote:
From the dust of a forgotten age, an ancient evil lives on.

Dr. Hugh Strickland is the director of a mental clinic. As a leading psychologist he sees many a sort of patient. But when a fellow doctor refers Noreen Pemberton to him, he isn’t prepared for what is to come.

Noreen appears – to a psychologist’s mind – to have a second personality: Ayesha. However, another patient in the facility goes into convulsions every time she goes under hypnosis, suggesting a parapsychological connection between the two. Strickland also recalls the name Ayesha to be familiar, and uncovers the old legend of She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed - a priestess of the ancient Mother of Mysteries, whose story had become a terrifying legend.

Her body had perished thousands of years ago — but her spirit was immortal, and she had sworn that one day she would return to wreak vengeance on those who had destroyed her.
Dr Hugh Strickland didn't believe in archaic legends. But when Noreen Pemberton was admitted to his psychiatric clinic, he was forced to rethink all his long-held beliefs. For another personality was fighting for possession of Noreen's body.

As the invading spirit grew stronger, Strickland realized that he was dealing with something beyond his power to control — and that knowledge put him in deadly danger. Ayesha was rising — to fulfil her legend and to live again!

Entropy in Bloom: Stories by Jeremy Robert Johnson
Amazon US $1.99

For more than a decade, Jeremy Robert Johnson has been bubbling under the surface of both literary and genre fiction. His short stories present a brilliantly dark and audaciously weird realm where cosmic nightmares collide with all-too-human characters and apocalypses of all shapes and sizes loom ominously. In "Persistence Hunting," a lonely distance runner is seduced into a brutal life of crime with an ever-narrowing path for escape. In "When Susurrus Stirs," an unlucky pacifist must stop a horrifying parasite from turning his body into a sentient hive. Running through all of Johnson's work is a hallucinatory vision and deeply-felt empathy, earning the author a reputation as one of today's most daring and thrilling writers.

Featuring the best of his independently-published short fiction, as well as an exclusive, never-before-published novella "The Sleep of Judges"―where a father's fight against the denizens of a drug den becomes a mind-bending suburban nightmare―Entropy in Bloom is a perfect compendium for avid fans and an ideal entry point for adventurous readers seeking the humor, heartbreak, and terror of JRJ's strange new worlds.

Here's a book I waffled about in the past and skipped. Now it's on sale again and I checked it out a second time. There must be something there.

Ghosts of Gotham by Craig Schaefer is $1.99 at Amazon US.

Quote:
Irresistibly drawn to mysteries, if only to debunk them, reporter Lionel Page exposes supernatural frauds, swindlers, and charlatans. His latest case is an obsession—at least for an ancient and wealthy heiress: verify the authenticity of a lost Edgar Allan Poe manuscript circulating through New York City’s literary underworld. But the shrewd Regina Dunkle offers more than money. It’s a pact. Fulfill her request, and Lionel’s own notorious buried past, one he’s been running from since he was a child, will remain hidden.

As Lionel’s quest begins, so do the warnings. And where rare books go, murder follows. It’s only when Lionel meets enigmatic stranger Madison Hannah, his personal usher into the city’s secret history, that he realizes he’s being guided by a force more powerful than logic…and that he isn’t just following a story. He is the story.

Now that the true purpose of his mission is revealing itself in the most terrifying ways, it may finally be time for Lionel to believe in the unbelievable.
