Verne, Jules: A Journey To The Interior Of The Earth (illustrated). v4. 21 Oct 2013
Book 3 of the Voyages Extraordinaires.
I tried something different this time by using Notepad++ instead of Sigil and made it 100% EPUB3 (in theory anyways). It works/looks great on my iPad/iBooks combo; let me know if you find any defects. version 2 - fixed width for images removed so that images aren't distorted for narrower devices. version 3 - fixed a number of typographical errors, as well as the graphic in Chapter 39 version 4 - fixed metadata and other minor errors that prevented the file from passing epubcheck 3.0.1. Didn't find any visible changes to rendering however. Sorry for the number of updates... one of these days I'll figure out what I am doing. Thanks for your great work, I've missed epub editions with the original illustrations – the novels just aren't the same without them.
I checked the book in Adobe DE and calibre reader; there's a minor snafu in the image stylesheet settings: When relative width is specified in the css, and absolute height and width are specified in the html, the width is set according to the css, and height according to the html, leading to a distorted aspect ratio. The simplest remedy is to remove the height attribute from the <img> tags in the html, then height is set automatically according to the image aspect. Hopefully this also works under iBooks... |
