Nothing else has been ported to the NookColor as far as I know. What else would you want to run on it? Ubuntu maybe? What extra functionality would you be looking for? For a tablet, Android is better suited than a full-fledged Linux distro.

The nook is android-based so you didn't install an OS on the nook, you merely enabled access to the main OS and market/apps and other features.

As for other OS's, I wouldn't count on it. What else would you want? Android's pretty strong and feature-heavy.

ezpdf is a very good reader that does zoom and rotate, even without accelerometer. Good for PDF. I guess moon+ reader pro does the same for epub...

You copy the APK to your SD card, then with a file browser (Like ES File Explorer) you navigate to the folder where you copied the APK, and click on it.

If you have ADB enabled, you can also connect your nookColor to your PC and then type "adb install <apk name here>".
