Distorted viewing in Kobo after editing in Calibre

Hello,

I have a problem when I read in Kobo a book which I edited in Calibre

1st page in kobo before the page with problem : http://www.cjoint.com/c/GJvmohPt30A

Same page in Calibre : http://www.cjoint.com/c/GJvmqqq7wZA

Up to now, no problem, just normal layout difference

2nd page in kobo (with problem) : http://www.cjoint.com/c/GJvmtd4DVKA

The following page, (3rd page in Kobo) is the one I expected, begining with

Quote:
Fthouéi</b>Mbai<b>Hni</b>
The page which I expected as 2nd is the following one in kobo and appears as 3rd : http://www.cjoint.com/c/GJvmzfITfjA

On the 4th page in kobo I get the page with the unexpected text in page 2 : http://www.cjoint.com/c/GJvmGyTK8ZA

I hope I was clear

Once again, I do not have this problem when I view the book in Calibre.
There are no error found by the html calibre editor and I do not find any error in the code myself.

Thanks for you help

Other than the second screenshot from the Kobo, I'm not sure what you are saying is wrong. That one could be an error in the line spacing for those lines of text. I have seen that when the line height was set to zero or very close to it.

For the last page, the text has to come from somewhere. The device doesn't randomly generate text and insert it into a page. To know why it was displayed there, we would need to see the code surrounding that text.

Actually, comparing that second screenshot to the later ones, it actually looks like the text is from the later screen shots. Are you getting a difference between paging forwards and backwards?

Overall, you are seeing the difference in how the different renders work. I like the calibre viewer, but it is not a good comparison point for most of the devices. For this, ADE will probably be a closer match to the Kobo epub renderer. You might find this works better if you send it to the device as a kepub. That uses a different renderer and might handle the different languages and fonts involved better. Beyond that, without seeing the code, and possibly the whole book, I don't know what to suggest.

Also, it is always a good idea to include the versions of the various things involved when reporting a problem. Knowing what version of calibre or the firmware the device is running, can affect the answer. In this case, I don't think it matters, but if you are running an old firmware version, it is probably worth trying a newer version.

I see a line-height (or malformed CSS) issue that might be ignored by Calibre, Which is notoriously forgiving <makes it kind of hard to spot problems >
Validate your CSS. I bet the original had issues, also.
