[iOS] Syncing page read across devices w/ different readers

Hi folks,

Out of the different iOS readers that do syncing of page position across devices, I'm wondering which are functioning correctly with CC.

If you use a reader that has this feature can you post here just to say if it's working or not with books handed over via CC?

Syncing of page position across devices in the reader app has no connection to CC, CC just hands over the book, and the reader app copies the book to its database, after that, CC's not doing anything, it's just a database, it sends books to a reader app, that's that.

It would seem that it's not that simple. This post split off from the discussion at https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=291332 where chaley said the following:

On iOS, Apple says that CC cannot hand a book file name to a reader app. Instead CC hands the entire file (contents) to the app, which stores it however it does. If a) the app uses some filename as the sync ID and b) picks some random name when a book is handed to it, then I would expect syncing to be problematic. If instead it syncs using some internal algorithm based on metadata or uses the base file name CC hands it then I would expect sync to work. It also could be that the app syncs by moving the book into cloud storage. That should work with books handed over by CC.

One experiment that might answer the question: put a book into Dropbox (or some cloud provider), use the cloud app to "Send the book to *reader app*", then see how the reader app syncs. AFAIK iOS CC "Sends the book" so it should behave in the same way.

If this is important to you then I suggest you post the question in the CC forum. Some iOS user should be able to shed light on how specific reader apps behave.

So, I'm still curious to hear from iOS users about their actual experience with page sync behavior in various apps, particularly MapleRead.

Don't use MapleRead, but Marvin has no problem syncing across different devices with books copied from CC.

Tested MapleRead and it seems to be working too. Yay!
