Inserting self closing tags (xhtml)

Hi

The Calibre Editor, among many many other things, allows us to insert double tags in Code view. They have to be chosen from a drop down menu. Every time I have to add an self closing tag* (balise auto-fermante in French), I have to tweak it manually.

As far as I know the use of these self closing tags is correct for xhtml. Further, for ePub3 we are advised to use xhtml.

Would it be possible
- either to allow the user to add a self closing tag
- or to offer the choice of <br/> and <hr/>?

Why do you care? Using <br></br> instead of <br/> is perfectly valid and more widely supported (i.e. is interpreted correctly by more HTML renderers). Since you are using a shortcut to insert it anyway, it's not like it more to type.

OK

I never tried it because it was a double tag and I thought it needed something between the two tags (dont"t ask me what).
