wANT TO sync the last read page on my calibre laptop to my calibre cloud pro

how can I do this? i got calibre cloud pro and synced my library through dropbox, the only problem is, although I can open the books on another laptop, and my phone, I cannot get my last read page for my books, or my highlights? i want these things to sync too, is there a way to do this?

Best way to set this up for seamless reading across 2 computers and phone with calibre and drpobox as the cloud setup?

Remember calibre cloud pro has nothing to do with these forums.

It kind of depends on what you read the books with, and whether or not you sync that reader's settings.

calibre's E-Book Viewer will store the bookmarks and last page read inside EPUBs, as well as in %APPDATA%\calibre\iterator.pickle

Other applications (for instance, your Android ereader app) will store the history in their own settings store, and they aren't even compatible with calibre -- nor are they being synced with your library.

So how can I sync my calibre library from one PC to another, and then to a phone using the dropbox cloud?

You are doing it right now.

But your phone doesn't use the same annotations system as calibre, so syncing isn't accomplishing anything.

There is no solution. Complain to the IDPF, because they make the standards and the standards don't say anything about annotations.

eschwartz there's no way around this? that sucks. the moonreader android to android was real clean. for a while i used genymotion with an android virtual machine to read ebooks on moonreader on my PC, but the virtual machine is WAY too laggy/buggy (click lag) on the virtual machine.

For my laptop I can teamviwer into my desktop and read calibre on my desktop, but i wonder how about on a commute back from work on my phone?

Any thoughts brother?

The only reader sofftware that syncs everywhere, and I mean across laptops, phones, and even an E-Ink reader, is the Kindle. You can email your own personal documents and get them to sync as well.

Google Play Books allows uploading personal documents and syncing, and it has Android, iOS, and Chrome Webstore apps.

Bluefire reader has Android and iOS apps, and Windows desktop software as well. I think it can sync last page read.

...

...

The trick is to find an application that is supported on all the platforms you use. It will use the same format for storing annotations everywhere, and sometimes it implements the syncing as well.

KOReader can sync between the platforms it runs on: Kindle, Kobo, Pocketbook, and some Android devices.

But not Windows, which is explicitly mentioned as one of the platforms the OP wants to sync with.

Most people don't need to sync between two different E-Ink devices, so it is only helpful for syncing between an E-Ink and Android device.

I suppose one could run one of the Android readers that sync in Bluestacks on Windows. Not idea, but might be a solution in some cases.

True there is no windows binary, which would be nice, you can run an emulation on a Windows or Linux machine. https://github.com/koreader/koreader...-prerequisites and scroll down to where it is described.

Guess I missed that. Though if folks use Bluestacks (but perhaps zetsui was using something else) to run high end smart phone games you'd think a reader app would be no problem.
