That should tell us why it is being deleted on your device

It renamed to update_<number>_<letters>.bin
That's odd. I can try to reset again if it is really needed to try to repeat the bug

But I'm not sure that it will happen again.

I thought there will be no problem if I reset only once, not twice in a row. Reset and install the fix. It is so simple

When the button greyed out I had some minutes of desperation when I thought that I lost JB completely. I even started to think how to buy a new kindle(but there's no guarantee it will come with jailbreakable fw) or try serial JB.

Thanks, that means it should be available if you go to your settings. ( it is safe to run this hotfix many times ).

I don't know why it shows up as grayed out the first time., I might try to play with it, but you don't have to do the reset again.

It could be that a freshly reset device uses a different version code of some sort to check correct packages, that I have missed. I'll figure it out eventually or not :-) ).

It's the same package, all i havr done is add the nee whardware and tinestamp to a header file of it.

Can you upload your logs and fine the part where it installed the package, probably not if you had to recover in diags.

To clarify, the jailbreak doesn't get lost when you upgrade, but you do lose sone support fikes that kual needs, that's part if what the hotfix reinstalls.

It possible KUAL doc version doesn't work in 5.9.2, I haven't tried it yet, but I updated to 5.9.2 and hadn't seen ant issues

I'm looking at the log, and teh package looks like it installed succesfully.

P3 is where the hotfix code lives.
Looks like it was written but the file system wasn't in sync when it was shut down.
We probably need to stick a 'sync' in there and also perhaps a:

mount -o remount /dev/mmcblk0p3

Without a mount point, mount (the full sized one) will just force the VFS buffers to disk.
Would have to check if busybox mount does the same.

Ok, I have a PW3 that has been jailbroken for over a year. Never had any problems updating the firmware. I have never hit the reset button. However, I just upgraded from 5.8.11 to 5.9.2 and I seem to have lost my ability to run the KUAL launcher. I get this error when trying to launch it:

Application Error

"The selected application could not be started. Please try again."

I copied Update_KUALBooklet_v2.7_install.bin to mrpackages and ran ";log mrpi" It appears to run: Hush Little Baby, etc. and reboots. However, I still cannot run the KUAL launcher.

I have also tried to run coplate's hotfixes. I tried each one and when I eject my PW3 from my PC and disconnect the USB cable: I get this error message and the file also get deleted:

Update Error

An invalid update file has been loaded on your device. Please go to www.amazon.com/devicesupport to access the Kindle Software Update page or to contact Kindle Customer Service for assistance.

I searched to log files for Update_jailbreak_hotfix_1.14_nomax_install and the some of the errors are file mismatch. But now I am at a loss of what to do next.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Use MrPI to install the hotfix packages when running "customer" firmware.
