Offhanded two additional ideas to look at:

First, check the ebook with the editor if a font was embedded and it is the one you are expecting to see. If not (because of the point that theducks mentioned), you need to add the font maybe manually via the editor.

Second, if I remember correct, Nook devices override some CSS rules like fonts by default setting and show your book with system fonts. You can change this behavior in your reader setup.
