Kobo Libra questions

My Kindle Oasis has been well used and unfortunately is on its way out. My preference is for page turning buttons but the Oasis is no longer made. I am considering the Kobo Libra Color reader.

Kindle provides a "Send to Kindle" option to load books. Does Kobo have a similar option?

Does Kobo sync the reader and iPhone app so I can read on any device at the current page?

Thanks for your help.

No, there is no Kobo version of "Send to Kindle". Kobo will sync reading position of books purchased from the Kobo store between devices/apps.

EDIT: You can add books via. Dropbox. Not quite the same as "Send to Kindle" though.

The Send to Kindle doesn't allow Amazon formats. It's Amazon's conversion that give them copies of non-Amazon titles, mostly epub because the Kindle deliberately has no epub support. It happens to enable sync.

The Kobo ereaders use epub anyway.

The Libra Colour has much lower display quality than the Oasis. It's very much darker and the 300 dpi is crippled by the array of 2 x 2 coloured dots (150 dpi colour) which means it has artefacts if given mono 300 dpi content.

The Libra and Libra 2 were similar, but gone. The closest Kobo equivalent with buttons is a Kobo Sage 8″.
I've had an Oasis 2, still have Paperwhite 3, Libra, Libra 2 and Sage.

I've seen the Onyx boox color models in person.

I use my Kindles and Kobos via USB and Calibre. I tried "Send to Kindle" and really I find no advantage to it.

I use search to find the current location based on what I last read. Far faster than two WiFi syncs.

I don't bother with Kindle or Kobo apps on my phone or tablet but use a 3rd party free app (Pocketbook).

Yes, that's true.

They can be taken out in Libby too and they'll sync so long as they're in the Kobo store.

Hi
I find "send to kindle" to be very useful for my needs. I send a ebook to kindle and the book appears on my Oasis, Paperwhite and Kindle iPhone app.

You might also want to check out the PocketBook InkPad 4. It has a 7.8" screen, has a Send-to-PocketBook feature and will sync with the PocketBook's iOS application. There's also an InkPad Color 3 with the same features. (Personally I would prefer the clarity of the b/w reader, but that's a personal choice.) The PocketBooks also have Adobe ADE built in, so you need only send the .acsm file to it.
