About subsetting
Hi
For the past two or three years, I had been subsetting routinely a slightly customized font (with some darkening added) using the Calibre editor. In the last year, some new technical check seems to have been added to the editor. Now, when I try to subset this font, nothing happens and I get this error message. |

I wonder if it is the same issue I had here...

Are you running a distro calibre package? If so you are missing the fontTools python library that is needed since calibre 6.17

Yes I am running the Calibre Archlinux package.
python-fonttools is already installed on my system and it works using the subsetting sigil plugin. Is it a way to solve it out of installing the original Calibre? I guess I'll have to inform the package manager. Last edited by roger64; 05-29-2023 at 06:41 AM. |

Linux repositories are a real mess. Don't use them. Just get the software from the source.

If its installed in the same python that is used by calibre it will work, if not, it wont. I'm afraid I dont provide support for distro packages for this very reason, they tend to break very often.

Of course. Thank you for pinpointing what happened.
