Karma calculation not correct.
While giving karma to someone, I can see the maximum number of karma I can give, and fine tune it (downwards) if need be. That's fine.
For example, to give someone a calculated karma to make his total karma a round figure, say, 500000, this formula should hold good: His/her existing k + my calculated k = 500000 But what I actually find is that there is always an error of (-)1, and the recipient gets a resultant number of 499999 instead. And I turn red with embarrassment. Perhaps the recipient would take me as a miser and indecent too. There is no way provided to grant +1 karma immediately again or edit the karma already given. |

There are inherent rounding and off-by-one problems in Karma. It's not going to be fixed.

Karma has always been thus - I blame a currently inactive member who confused the algorithm ....

I thought we were doing away with karma. When is that going to happen?

Probably when we migrate to the new forum software: before, during or after the next glaciation.

Actually I wanted to ask if something was going on that is making MR response times erratic. I've been experiencing this for a couple of days, to the extent that it often times out. And on 2 different computers, in two separate locations (200km apart), using different ISPs. Maybe its weekend maintenance, but in a glob-alised world what is a 'weekend'?
