Your's is a very good description why I will not buy or upgrade to 600. Specially display and reading quality is a top, no-discussion-possible for me. Don't worry, return your 600 ir you didn't like it and feel comfortable with 505. Only if the readers are returned or not selling, Sony will consider release in future better readers, if any! Thanks! Perhaps, there are hidden assumptions I don't know. The "if" clause above is definitely false from my view. By the way, I got my 600 2 days ago and am happy with it so far. |

I might be very well returning my PRS-600 in favor of my older PRS-700.. I'll give it a few more days and see.

I want to thank everyone who posted opinions in this thread. I have been considering upgrading to the PRS 600 but after reading all the conflicting opinions, I think I will wait until I can see one in a store.

I'm very curious about people's reactions to the 600. I keep going back and forth on whether I want one . . . |

With preview on the Mac, you can show thumbnails of the pages in the side bar, select them all, and then crop. In this way, you can set the cropping region for a single page and then apply to all pages. You don't need to do a page a time. I have Acrobat Pro but have come to prefer preview for this purpose.

Light is one part, though minor I think, for most people, but I find myself more discouraged to read at night without a built in light, but that's just me being lazy It's really not that 600 is bad, but it is just the little things about the 700 that I got extremely used to, to be, 700 was more usable for me. One of the things is the lack of a physical 'Back' button. The on-screen Back button works fine, but to be honest, its on the top left hand of the screen, just for usability point of view... why the top left, your hand (well, mine at least) never go anywhere near the top of the screen unless I'm turning off the power. Another one is the lack of a physical 'Search' button. The search option is now hidden under options, while this is fine for most people, I think it's just an added step to do for when I need to search a text. As for the dictionary, I've actually never bothered with it, but it seems nice enough on the 600. And over using 600 and 700, I find the 700 much easier to hold in my hands, which may be just that I am used to it, but it just 'felt' nicer. I find myself constantly adjusting my hands on the 600 to get it comfortable when I hold it. Hope this helps somewhat? |

Fry's is a terrible store. Seems what you want is only available in a limited set of stores. They won't allow you to order on-ine for the thing you want. Going out of business is not too good for them.
