Ok i just did a factory reset. Its a little different from the volume up and power key reset. I pressed power button and volume down key till power light led started blinking. Then pressed power button for 15 seconds till it powered on. Pressed volume up and power key till it reset again. Then i did the reset proceedure.

To prepare i started by formatting the internal sdcard from settings. then i unmounted and removed external sdcard. I unrooted next and rebooted. Then i did the factory reset.

I did all this in the hopes it would reapply the Nov. 17th update. It appeared to do that and it gave me a message saying it had applied the update. I remember it failing to update when i first applied it giving an error saying it failed then rebooting and applying it again. This was on the 24th of Nov.

Ok so far so good. It booted up fine and downloaded ebooks. I left it in a virgin state and only disabled wifi sleep policy while it was downloaded ebooks. I left policy off and put it to sleep with wifi off. I waited 10 minutes and woke it up successfully.

I'm going to leave it like that for several hours. I will wake it up periodically to see if it fails to wake. I will report back my results.

EDIT:

Ok appears that while plugged in it behaves fine. No problem waking from sleep with wifi off or on. Unplug the power cord and it worked 3 times. Then unexpected sdcard problem and freeze. This was a first for me. Normally it just give me black screen. So unmounted external sdcard and rebooted. Will report back with further info.

Further EDIT:

Ok appears internal sdcard is unexpected problem. At this time no changes to system except it has downloaded ebooks. Going to wait for a while.

EDIT: Done testing. Factory reset did not fix sleep bug for me. Nor did installing either antivirus or juice defender. There have been examples given by other users that use one or both of these as being responsible for fixing the sleep bug. In my case neither solution worked on my vox.

I appreciate other peoples ideas and had fun trying them out. I hope others try them and report there sucess or failures. Just because it did not work for me does not mean it could not work for others.

Same experience as above. One thing to note is that the Vox says the 'SD card had not been removed correctly' every time it freezes. At least it says that for me. Low the only time these days it won't (usually) freeze if it's plugged in as I have WiFi never set to turn off while it's on AC power.

Waiting for a new image to flash, or looking at a new device when one afforfably priced comes out. Before this began, I told prospective buyers to wait a few months. Now, I'm less patient with it. Every thing I can think of isn't working, and I can't restore it to the (mostly working) state it was in a week and a half ago. Or even the first few days after patching.
