Except, possibly for the cover. Use Sigil to edit an EPUB (cleanly) You could butcher the file by using T(weak EPUB) and just delete the image files, then rebuild, leaving the book with broken images in place |

Add
img { display:none } to extra css, though that wont actually remove the image files, only hide them. |

Convert to txt format with Markdown/Textile (preserving other formatting) - unchecking 'Do not remove image references' in conversion options, then convert back to epub

I use this method, but then also remove references to the images from the book's xhtml files and from the manifest, (opf file), so that the ePub is not malformed. These files are all available during Tweak ePub.
