Since I can't find the "edit" button:
It seems those .extkbd files might be for external keyboards - I might still give it a try, can't hurt. Still trying to figure out where my Verse keeps its .kbd files - they're not in the folders other versions seem to have them.

Hello,

I hope I'm not asking some stupid question here... I am looking for solutions to convert two pdf dictionaries to StarDict format, or any format I could provide to pyglossary.

What I have are two clean printable pdfs (not scans), that I was able to divide into single-column pages and that I converted to HTML using pdf2htmlEX. One of those dictionaries is the well known Duden Aussprachewörterbuch. The other is the DIPI, an italian pronunciation dictionary.

I saw your script, and wondered if this was the much looked for magic solution, but I can't understand if it is designed for this kind of files, or not at all...

Can you please tell me what you think of my situation, and if you think it's worth a shot to try and tinker with you script ?

Thank you very much !

Nothing is designed for PDF files. You have to covert them to e.g. HTML and hope that the uniformity is rigorous enough to parse.

Please, could you convert this StarDict dictionary? I tried with Pyglossary, but I failed. It's an English-Spanish Harrap's dictionary.

Thank you for your work and time.

@jfca283 Could you test the file uploaded to pCloud? It is placed in the EN-SPA folder.
You probably have to wait a while, because people keep downloading all files, instead of the ones they will actually use.
Then again, hitting the monthy traffic limit of pCloud does give me the impression that I'm doing something with a modicum of success.

EDIT:
Here is a link until 30th of March.

Hello !

I'm drooling over the Grand Larousse french dictionary available on the pCloud ; unfortunately, it is not in the .dic format that my ereader needs.

If someone could make a conversion of it someday, that would be extremely appreciated ! :-)

Yes, you're right. It's missing. I'll run the script again for Pocketbook only.

EDIT: I've uploaded the dictionary on pCloud. Could you check if it works for the Pocketbook?

Thank you very much Markismus !

I've tried it and it works just fine. I don't know how it could happen since it is quite clear in my mind which one is which one, but I was actually thinking this was the Grand Robert ahah ! Anyway, I'm very happy with it, many thanks :-)

@BhUpasamo Le Grand Robert is here. You can zoom in a few times to get the high resolution version. If you manage to download it and share the link, I could take a look and see whether the code that transformed the OCRed Grand Larousse will eat this one, too.

The classic way to download from Archive.org doesn't seem to work anymore, since they been hacked. But who knows.....
EDIT: The image URL are only available as blob's, e.g. blob:https://archive.org/647c474a-73f0-42...9-333bd75e3b73. So you'll have to circumvent that first. All approaches are done with Javascript, and I am not willing to dive that deep.

EDIT: Found a mobi-dictionary from 2005 here.

EDIT:EDIT: I tried to convert the generated xdxf to dic-format. However, it keeps crashing. I got to 800k of the 1.2M lines and I am out of ideas to fix them. I even found that converter.exe responded differently whether I ran it in a clean wine surrounding or in already used one. I'll upload the xdxf-file and the stardict file tomorrow.

Wow, how kind of you Markismus, I feel embarrassed that you took so much of your time for me!

No worries if it failed, I'm already quite satisfied with the Larousse!

@BHUpasamo Both Stardict and Pocketbook binary formats for Le Grande Robert are uploaded to the FRA-FRA directory on pCloud.

Apparently, I can't let Sublime Text 3 handle replacements on such large files. After I wrote the code to manually input complex text delimiters*, all problems with the converter.exe just disappeared. Nice to see the old code working as expected

Hello @Markismus

The .dic isn't working apparently. No word shows, whether in the dictionary function or while reading a book! Thanks all the same

Odd. I'll check whether something went amiss at uploading. Up until now we haven't had non-working dictionaries that were generated by converter.exe .

Could someone else test the Le Grande Robert dic-file? Just in case I can't find the problem at my end. Can't test it myself on my Onyx Boox Note, but I can test the Koreader Optimized Stardoct format.
EDIT: Works in Goldendict. See Thumbnail.

There is a mirror of the library made by nhedgehog. The link is in the 1st post of this thread.
pCloud reaches it monthly limit quite often. I reckon it's because people download the entire library instead of just the ones they will actually use.
