By the way I've heard the developer of Calibre pronounces it as "caliber" as he is from India which used to be a british colony therefore the English over there is more traditional compared to US English. But I would say the pronouncing should be the same as like "theatre" vs "theater". So Caliber it is... ;p

Also please note that calibre does not have a capital C at the start of it. |

I often use capital C for calibre, although I know it's supposed to to be small. So that other people, who may not know this, would understand I mean the computer program calibre and not something else.

I have a Kobo Libra Color 2 device. I am not programmer nor I know or understand coding at advanced level.
I have the following mods installed on my KLC2 device: NickelClock NickelDBus NickelMenu KFmon KOReader I read about the KoboPatch and I decided to install this. Upon after referring to the following URLs: https://github.com/pgaskin/kobopatch-patches https://github.com/folkemat/KoboPatchFan https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=356106 I proceeded to download and install the KoboPatchFan desktop application on my windows desktop. After running the application, the application generated this message: Found no patch for firmware 4.39.23027 After checking the current firmware/software version installed on my KLC2 device, i found that it has the following version installed: 4.40.23081 (8cd8ab046d, 8/19/24) So the latest available patch from pgaskin's Github (https://github.com/pgaskin/kobopatch...leases/tag/v84) is 4.38.21908 Does that mean I cannot install this current latest patch for 4.38.21908 for my KLC2 at the moment ?? Please can someone help to clarify and guide me on exactly what to do to install KoboPatch to my KLC2 device |

Hey everyone, I haven't used the kobopatchfan in a while, but now I did get an update for the Kobo Clara 2e and wanted to patch this. Unfortunately there is no patch available for the new version 4.38.23171. Can I choose the older version which worked or should I wait for the release of the patch? Thanks

Since there haven't been any new Kobopatch updates for some time now, I have added a feature to KoboPatchFan 1.4.0 that allows easy patching with older patch versions: If you enable “Patch anyway” in tab (1) now, the last available patch is automatically choosen and modified so that it works with the newest firmware.
This should also make it much easier to try out new values for the individual patches. Maybe some of you like to share what works and what not (I don't know to what extent it makes sense to patch one of the new Kobos with 4.x, but the older versions should often work). Update! New in KoboPatchFan 1.4.0:

It's not a good idea (IMHO) to allow an older set of patches to newer firmware. In the screenshot you've shown, a number of those patches will not work. You need the patches from the Unofficial Patch thread for the firmware 4.38.23171. Also, can KoboPatchFan handle the patches setup in kobopatch.yaml? The one in the patches for this firmware are setup in a specific way so it's easier for when you have some patches that cannot be applied together. For example, this patch or that patch but only one of them.

Bonjour.

This is a nice tool for less experienced users. But I miss the option to add own patch-files e.g. libnickel-mod...I have a bunch of modified patches in my own patch-file and I can integrate it in the yaml-file so that it will be executed.
I also checked using older patches for newer firmware (my Kobo Clara BW has no older firmware for which official patches are available at the moment). For some patches it works, for some not. But your app shows when something went wrong, what's good. You have put a lot of effort into this nice tool. Great! |
