You could try by buying a kobo voucher/gift card for just one dollar (or the cheapest voucher if they don't allow that) and then find out form your real location information... if it doesn't work, you could temporarily put your address to a USA address and buy a book with it from there...

But then of course, if it doesn't work, you'll have to buy the book more expensively (or buy a different book that you also want?). You could also mail kobo and ask them if USD gift vouchers would work in your area.

Kobo voucher. According to their support it "should work, but you'll need to try it out".

I don't believe it is. I have two accounts and have funded a gift card in the UK acct from Paypal (and my payment source is USD).

I have a bunch of Chapters Indigo (Canadian mega-chain bookstore which used to be the majority backer of Kobo) gift cards and I've had no problems applying them to my auxiliary US Kobo account, which does an automatic currency conversion and deducts in USD-equivalent from my CAD-denominated card when I buy.

Actual Kobo voucher/gift cards should be functionally the same, I assume, since they're basically sold through the same source and going through the same system process.

I also got the email and with a different code number - so I guess everyone gets a unique code.

I'm wondering if it's a single use only code.

And what a lot of publisher exclusions - mayb e they should have just said which pubs it works with eh.

An update on the gift voucher saga. I purchased a $12 (USD) voucher which I then applied to my account. Under store credit it now shows the following message:

We're sorry, but the currency for your current location does not match the currency we use for your store credit. Please contact Customer Care to convert your store credit to your local currency.

I've contacted customer support so I'll see how long it takes. It seems that is indeed possible to use this method, but it's extremely cumbersome. If only they had a method to just change the currency on the fly, or some way to convert prices to USD when doing Paypal transactions.

Tried it out on a couple of others in the list and it's 30%....presume that is a fixed discount ?
