cant turn page on pdf?

I feel like a dork, but I can't seem to get the page to turn on a pdf on my nc? I had converted it to epub, but the photos don't show up so I added the pdf version as well, but I can only look at other pages if I go to "Go to Page" then type the number. Any ideas?

Just to clear the obvious, on PDFs you turn pages sliding up/down, whereas on EPUBs you slide right/left. Are you sliding up/down?
