I had thought about it, but no, I didn't have the motivation to think about it.
If someone asked, I would do.

Done.

Note, this will only apply to the longtext columns that are tagged as HTML.

Thanks. I was worried about it affecting the FanFicFare longtext column (which is very touchy) but since I store it as plain-text it should be fine.

Issue with 1.11

Hi,

Since updating to the latest version 1.11 and also updating Calibre to the latest 6.26, Calibre freezes after running this plugin and has to be forced quit on my Mac (!3.5.2).

Anyone else having this issue?

Nothing here.

If is after running the plugin, maybe the freezing is is caused by updating the metadata in the Calibre database. This may take some time, eventualy minutes, if you have selected a lot of books to cleaner (realy a LOT).

Are your sure that Comment Cleaner completly lock one a irrecoverable way? And not just this?

Hi,
No, only one book is selected when running Comments cleaner.
I have reinstalled Version 1.10 and all works as expected. When updating to 1.11 again issue comes back.

Okay.
Can you share the debug log (with the 1.11).

Restart Calibre in debug mode > run comment Comment Cleaner.

Normaly, the log file is automaticly open when close Calibre, but if your need to forced quit, this can be not the case. So take note of the file path (show in the first dialog) to open it manually.
(upload the file directly or if your past the content directly, use a Spoiler tag)

Okay... craps.
I can said that 'Comments Cleaner' has runned completly without flaw.
So whatever is blocking Calibre is most likely out of my hands and not 'Comments Cleaner.'

I can try to help you, but it will be hasardous and without guarantee.
  1. I advise you to uninstall all third-party plugins.
  2. Install only 'Comments Cleaner' and perform a test.
  3. Install a new plugin, restart Calibre and redo a test.
  • If after the addition of a new plugin, the test of Comments Cleaner lock Calibre, note the name, uninstal them, and instal the next plugin on the list.

When we find out which other plugin is in conflict, I'll be able to help you better, but you'll probably have to talk to the plugin author directly.

IF Calibre will lock with only 'Comments Cleaner' instaled, then it's a Calibre problem. That a other level and you should open a new thread/bug report to specifically talk about this and find the root of the problem.

List of you other plugin instaled:
  • DeDRM (10, 0, 3)
  • Clean Comments (0, 2, 1)
  • Count Pages (1, 13, 2)
  • Diaps Editing Toolbag (0, 4, 0)
  • Fantastic Fiction (1, 6, 4)
  • Goodreads (1, 7, 9)
  • Job Spy (1, 0, 239)
  • Kobo Books (1, 9, 2)
  • Quality Check (1, 13, 6)
  • Reading List (1, 15, 1)
  • Resize Cover (1, 2, 0)
  • Search The Internet (1, 10, 1)

Also, a see you have 'Clean Comments' (by Terisa de morgan) instaled too: If this one lock Calibre too or not? If Calibre lock too, is still usefull to test the instalation of others plugin to know the real source of the problem.

Hi, many thanks for your help, it is much appreciated. The Clean Comments plugin still works ok (I use both because I find that neither totally clears all the info I want, when I run both the result is excellent.

I will reinstall Comment Cleaner 1.10 as it works fine, and check back later to see it the issue is resolved. Time does not allow me to do as you ask, I'm afraid.

Thanks again for your help.
