Great WSJ article on ebooks
This is one of the best articles on ebooks and the changing industry I've read in a while, one of the few that doesn't have Apple's or Big Six fingerprints all over it:
http://bit.ly/b079ik Thank you, Wall Street Journal. Favorite line: "Still, the success of Ms. McQuestion's debut self-published novel, "A Scattered Life," illustrates perhaps the biggest long-term threat to traditional publishers: a replacement for their ability to curate and market books.' That is a terrific article. I didn't know Apple had launched a self-publishing venue similar to Amazon's. A worthy read.

"[M]any writers depend on the advances they get from their print publishers. For some, this means seven-figure payments long before their titles hit the bookshelves."
Hey, Scott...where did you invest your seven-figure advance from Kensington? I gave mine to Bernie Madoff, unfortunately. |

This is one of the few articles that gave recognition to what Amazon does to help people find books. Seems folks think without book stores and librarians, people would never be able to figure out what to read.
Online forums and social networks add to what Amazon and others do to promote books. It's a bit like YouTube. Tens of millions of videos and a few of them "go viral". Lee |

Yes! A thoughtful article - and good to see Smashwords included.
